I like getting into bed after a shower. My skin feels all warm and glowy. And I brush my still-damp hair just before putting my head down, and in the middle of the night I will sometimes wake up and feel how silky it gets right before it's completely dry. Several of my grandparents would chastise me if they were alive and knew I was sleeping with wet hair. By their logic, I should have a constant cold/influenza.

But I don't!

Tonight I'm going to a New Agey woo-woo dance class with my mom. The NIA Technique. Here's the class description:

Through movement we find health. Movement should embrace individuality, power, love, receptivity, balance, self inquiry, and self expression. Your body is a gift. Movement is our way. Nia is like chocolate. It is difficult to explain, you just have to taste it. Join us, and awaken to your own dance of fitness. No dance experience necessary.

I am so totally excited. If it's fun, I'm going every Wednesday and Saturday.

I'm a morning showerer. Not to be too detailed, but I sweat in my sleep a lot of the time, and I feel greasy and tired if I don't get that hot morning shower.

Have fun with the hippie dancing.

I used to shower in the morning, and swear by it, but I have to get up so early if I want to not leave with wet hair when it's freezing outside. And I refuse to use a hairdryer. It takes forever and makes me sweat.

I guess when you have no hair and hardly any cold weather, you don't have to worry about it.

Hippie dancing should be a trip. I'm hoping I find my "inner dance of fitness."

Yeah, an eighth of an inch of hair doesn't take long to dry. Thank god.

You might find your inner dance of laziness, though. So be careful.

Or an inner dance of crystal worshipping? An inner dance of tiedye tshirts? An inner dance of white-person dreadlocks?

An inner dance of not washing and an inner dance of buying overpriced faux-Indian bedspreads to hang on the wall.

And an inner dance of Nag Champa and body odor.

Haha, don't worry... my inner dance is nothing like that.

Nothing wrong with a little nag champa once in a while, as long as you're not using it to cover up hippie stink.

I guess because my hair is longer I don't get that. Although I have to make sure the part is right before I lay down. Otherwise I have to repart it in the morning and one side will be all puffy. I also have fine hair (a lot of it, but not thick or textured), so it can't really hold a kink or a crease.

Ditto. It also makes sense because I work out at night. I don't want that sweat to sit on me all night.
