It looks like I'm paying a price for taking yesterday off. I'm getting sick. My tonsils are huge, and I don't have much of a voice left. Other than that, it's just a little coughing here and there, but I anticipate a mess of yucky new symptoms before the weekend is over.

Mom and I spent yesterday together, mostly shopping. I was all, "Mom, I don't want to shop much. I'm trying to recover from the holidays." And she was all, "Just a few stores." She didn't buy anything but a wax tart ($0.71) from Kohl's and some marked down Christmas ornaments at Bird and Barrow ($13.something). I, on the other hand, shopped 'til I dropped. Strangely, I only spent a little over $20 and still came home with:

- A pair of red patent mary jane wedges
- Four round glass ornaments with pink and green and blue stripes
- 30 creme brulee tealights
- Two whimsical cards to send to pals
- A vintage necklace with a gold rope chain and a big gold and white enamel pendant
- Two pictures from the 1940's

Despite my mounting illness, I really want to do something social today. Isn't Transpyre tonight? There's nothing on their myspace about it, but it's always supposed to be the first Saturday of the month. I want hangouts!
