Dec. 1st, 2008 10:04 pmWork had me zombified by the time I left tonight. I am one of several library assistants doing inventory all day, every day until the entire library is scanned in. Well, every day except for the few Saturdays on which I'm scheduled to just do circulation stuff. And my one evening a week. That's half time on inventory duty and half time on the circ desk. Today I scanned in a bunch of 400's (about language mostly) and 800's (brit and american lit and corresponding cliffnotes) and our whole hardback mystery collection. After a week, we are not even 20% done. Oy.
I'm relaxing with tea and the twinkly styles of Sufjan Stevens. It's an effective regimen.
A few weeks ago, I purchased a set of these long rubber strips that one uses in different ways to strengthen and tone various muscles groups. I used them for the first time last night and can say, tentatively, that the things work. Proof positive: my aching body. A couple of weeks with these, and perhaps my back and arms will look a little sleeker. That's the goal, anyway. It's a nice way to dip my toes in the waters of strength training. The free weight/Nautilus area at the YMCA is like a fucking catwalk; I can never bring myself to jump in there because of all the strutting and posturing done by the clientele. Men and women, but the men especially. It's too high pressure.
My best friend's birthday was yesterday! Elliott is 20! YAY! And a bunch of other friends are having birthdays in the next couple of months. Never-ending birthday joy! Party all the time!
